Lighting of the Votives

Some light candles for their dead;

I light candles for the one who 

brought me back to life

in the sanctuary of my bed

where sins are confessed

and wounds are healed

again and again and again.

I’m not saying

he walks on water,

but he calms the storm in me.

So, yes, I light candles

for the one who

pulled me

out of the raging sea.
