True confession: I am a dance groupie. I am addicted to dance. These days my own dancing is limited to the confines of my home and garden, but my soul is still a dancer. I have been addicted to “So You Think You Can Dance” since the very first year, or as we dance junkies call it, SYTYCD!
This season has been incredible. The talent is unbelievable. It is difficult to pick a favorite, for they are all so amazing. If you are not a dancer, let me try to explain how difficult it is to do what these young dancers do…to cross over to all styles of dance. Say you are an artist, a painter of landscapes, and now you must excel at carving the human figure from marble in three days. Or you are an orthopedic surgeon and you have three days to master delicate brain surgery. Or you have written a best selling novel and must translate it into French (although you do not speak French) in three days.
SYTYCD makes me feel so alive! So happy to be alive. It makes me want to move, dance, live, be. Some nights are just HOT . . . Hot Tamale Train!

Oh yes yes yes! Call me a groupie too...and I am alwyas amazed at their raw and practiced talent!
I hear you about dance in the soul...I have a minor in dance from college. But am not movin' this bootie too much these days. Cough.
I am an addict as well! I think of you every time I watch it and I always wonder 'hmmm would Debbie like that dance?' When is that handsome boy of yours coming home? I wish I could be there when you first see him! I getting teary-eyed just thinking about it!
I do not care what they say about men and Fred Astaire but female dancers are so much better. They have more extreme and fancier moves and they have to wear high heels. Tell a male dancer to wear high heels and I will really be impressed! I have never heard of the show but I just remember I don't watch television. But I will watch dancing shows.
"Enter **"The God Zone"**" ?!!!
Good Evening Deborah, We have had one episode of the Dutch version of : You think you can dance, and I was really happily surprised at the enormous talent in these young dancers but also in their ability to connect to one another even in competition. It is of quite another level that Idols. I can relate completely to what you tell us here as for having been a dancer and danceteacher too. As long as the jury is with people who really KNOW about dance I will watch the second time around too. I HATE it when there are nitwits in the jury who are seen on tv all the time in all other categories.
We don't get to see any of your Do you think you can dance so thats a pity I think.
Tell us more.
Be well.

I *loved* it when Mary called Nigel an English muffin last night lol. You are not jokin nor jestin - i am constantly amazed at the extreme talent of the dancers (and choreogrpahers, but really the dancers) on that show. Nevermind what genre i am from, the intense demand of being on a reality-type television show alone would probably do me in...but add performing, plus rehearsals, plus new partners and time constraints, plus like you said-going from vegetarian to meataholic in zero point seven seconds, and WOWIE. They are crazy talented ('specially the women).
You know, I have been secretly coveting Mary's hair. Would i look ridiculous if I attempted that I wonder?
WOOOHOOOO
This is for Ces..The ballet of Monaco has male dancers in tutu and on spitsen in serious classical ballets, not just comic or tranvestite. And Maurice Béjart choreographed a ballet in tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen and the male dancers were on plateau-high shoes, terrific...Have you seen Jorge Donne dance Le Boléro in the movie Les Uns et Les Autres ? What about : Steppin Out ? There is so much more to the male body and the male dancer than being in a choreographie to serve the lady.
Anyway, you might change your mind...I wish we could visit Béjart's compagnie in Lausanne together, take Deborah along...three ladies going to the ballet...

Look at his neck! he is a very good dancer~!
Topless!? Very naughty tease!!!
I started watching this year. Mary drives me up the wall... that screech.... wow!
Oh I have missed out on every bit of it! I saw the first two nights then life carried me away to some other place. That's me! Always being carried away by this or that ;-O. I like to dance in my kitchen best.

oh deborah, i can just FEEL your passion through your words. it is so good to love something so much, isn't it?
i can't watch the video because it is late and my household is sleeping. but i will. i haven't watched this show but i'm addicted to 'dancing with the stars'. i love how shows like this elevate dance and educate people about how great dancing is.
have a good day, deborah. xo
The dancing is beautiful but I am laughing my head off at the judges.
Did Nigel get a perm? And what the fuck is up with that screeching voice?
No, really, the dancing is wonderful.
Love Renee xoxo
First of all the Tango is a very difficult dance even with a partner you have trained with for a long time. I studied ballroom dancing for a semester in college and I had a dancing partner for four months. Let me tell you, we were young (17, 18, 19) and graceful BUT we did not dance like this and the men did not dance like him. We were lucky we passed the course! I should have studied fencing instead. And I love dancing.
So tell me about your dancing days- I have always wanted to ask. I never get to watch your show, the mister has his fingers glued to the remote. Sigh... Hey I need some advice over at my place.
xo-jj
Heavy on your heart. Never.
