I missed the announcement on the news . . .

That today is Deborah Day!

Deborah AwardTextD

My beloved sisterfriend, Ces, has brought me to tears today by creating and drawing this award for me!  Please visit her blog for her explanation of why she has a habit of comparing people to trees, and be treated to the incredible visual beauty of her artwork. Below is an abbreviated version written by Ces.

“So today I am planting another tree. The Quercus shumardii or Shumard Oak. It is a handsome large tree with straight axis and broad, rounded open crown. It withstands strong hurricane winds, extreme heat, is tall and straight and just plain beautiful. I have more trees to plant but rest assured those who have virtual trees and acorns planted and distributed in their honor have one common virtue, they are loyal friends regardless of race, creed, political affiliations and geography. Here, I honor womanhood and friendship and there is nothing more wondrous a blessing for anyone than for a friend who came and never left your side.”

Friendship isn't about who you have known the longest,

but who came and never left your side.

To My Sisterfriends:

Cori

Junie

Vanessa

Rhonda

Linda

Meredith

(Some of my beloveds are missing from the list, as they have been given this award by the author, Ces)

AND

Just when I had picked myself up off the floor after having been overcome by this beautiful gift, the doorbell rang . . .

Flowers from Iraq.

I am exactly where I want to be.

I have the original ATC without the text. In this case ATC is not Artist Trading Card but "A ThankYou Card". It is small but it is matted on an 8x10 board. I am sending it to you.

Oh my God Deb, how beautiful.

I love the award for two reasons. One because Ces did it and her work is remarkable. But mostly I love it because Ces recognized everything that I too see in you.

The flowers, oh my God you must have melted.

Happy day dear one.

Love Renee xoxo

Do you see it? Do you see it? The table where you placed dear Ryan's flowers is OAK!

I prefer cherry furniture myself but for trees - nothing more beautiful than magnificent and stately oak trees. My husband is a lover of oak. Actually anything that is made of true wood. He likes wood. Me too! I love wood, real wood, not fake wood, not even pressed no matter how thick it looks. Wood rules!

I started the Quercus Society of Blogworld on my sidebar!

Awwww Deb I just dont know where to begin-oh wait yes I do! Flowers from Iraq. I could cry right now! (ok dont look, i am a little bit).

Secondly, that Ces! She should rename her blog "Ces and her incredible trees"...symbolizing the strength, power, beauty and nurturing spirit of women we love. What a brilliant idea (says the girl from the treehouse)..

And last for best-of COURSE you would be a recipient! The inspiration even! Beautiful inside and out, loving and giving, proud and strong (come in she said i'll give ya, shelter from the storm...)

I'm sooooo honored and very very touched to be one of your sisterfriends! (And what a lovely bunch they are!) The feeling is so amazingly mutual :-) ♥
XOXOX much love

Deborah, I cannot come here without my eyes welling up when I look at your son in his uniform. I have spent the whole of my life in one brach of the military or another, and I know, I know.
I bid you inner peace, and so happy that Ces designed such an exceptionally beautiful blog award in your honor.....
Until he is safely home;
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

XXOO!

You, Ma dear, so deserve the award and all the power and thought behind it! And the flowers from a son a world and a half away? Well...goes without saying!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing the beautiful award with me...
