The Heart Of A SOLDIERS Family

What moves me is love. Twenty-three years ago, love moved my husband and me into the house where we would bring home two babies, raise our family, and own just about every type of pet found on the Ark, including Rosie the box turtle who roamed freely about the yard. For twenty-three years the house underwent many changes, as my husband literally made all of my dreams come true; a playhouse for the toddlers, a fort for the 8-year-olds, a pool for the teens, a Jacuzzi for the young adults. Birthdays, holidays, mid-tour leave celebrations, the difficulties that come with being human; our lives were lived out in that house. When our son was once again deployed to Iraq, we moved our daughter-in-law in with us, and she grew our granddaughter while living in our son’s childhood room, and a new generation was welcomed home with love.

Just when we thought we were finally finished “moving the front yard to the back yard” and we were about to have an “empty nest”, my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV lung and bone cancer (non-smoker). Love moved me to give up the home that quickly became too much work, and love moved my husband to find a home that I could continue live in once I am alone. We do what love requires. We both feel that Divine Providence brought us Troy Reeves and his team from Remax. Troy was extremely motivated to sell our home without even knowing our story, and sell it he did; the first day he listed it. Troy and Laura made an emotionally difficult situation easier with their knowledge, expertise, and caring hearts, and again, they still did not know our story. I felt from the very beginning of this journey with my husband’s terminal illness, that everything would be okay; not that the cancer would miraculously be cured, but that we would complete this journey together with the help of others; family, friends, neighbors, and strangers who are now friends. Therein lies the miracle; love.

With the help of Troy once again, here we are in our maintenance-free townhouse, starting over, just like in the beginning, thirty-three years ago; the two of us. In the depths of this human experience, I have learned that my husband is my home. Troy Reeves at Remax helped us find a new house to put our home in. Here we shall continue to celebrate life and love.

Voting done for today.

Such a heart warming story, one that surely will be a winner.
But everyone in this story is a winner already, as the love goes round and round, closing the circle.
Still believing in miracles,,,in whatever form they arrive,,,
XOXO ♥
