Cancer/Chemo Giggles

Ehren 008

Today’s picture has nothing to do with the post, other than she does make us smile.

A lot.  All the time.

AND I cannot post pictures of the cancer giggles.  This will become self-explanatory.

1.    Trial Drug Study A7471009 of PF-00299804 has been causing great skin difficulties (otherwise know as side effects) for the Brawny Man.  The face rash was readily taken care of by oral antibiotics.  However, he developed a horrid rash on his legs, and by horrid, I mean his legs looked like they had been ravaged by insect bites, and by ravaged I mean the

Eighth Plaque of Egypt

Exodus 10:4 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow will I bring the locusts onto thy legs:

10:5 And they shall cover your legs, that one cannot be able to see your legs: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every hair which groweth for you out of your legs.

Okay, that may be a paraphrased quote.

The treatment for this is to apply a topical steroid gel and a topical antibiotic cream twice a day.  Due to the gel factor, it requires a bit of time to dry.  So imagine my surprise the first morning The Mister applied this to his legs and is waiting for it to dry and I come downstairs to find him casually sitting on the couch eating his cereal

with his pants around his ankles!

Awkward!

But really funny.  Gives me the giggles every time.

2.     During his eight months of IV chemo, my Brawny Man did not lose a hair on his head.  However, he did lose all the hair on his arms and legs.  Gotta tell ya, Bad Alice and I were pretty envious of his silky smooth legs (this was before the horrid rash).

Now the hair is returning with gusto, and by gusto I mean

Brillo Pads*

(*trade name for a scouring pad, used for cleaning dishes, and made from steel wool impregnated with soap)

Without the soap.

Oh I so get this laughter and these giggles!! What a picture that must have made...cereal and Brawny Man caught with his pants down!! :) Seriously, if I hadn't been able to laugh and laugh at some of the absurdities of cancer I'd have lost my mind (as well as all my hair). And shared laughter with those we love at a time like this? There is nothing better. Here is to getting rid of that rash and taming those brillo pads of hair!! xoxo

Only you can make me giggle about a post about cancer and the treatment!! That image of Brawny Man on the couch with his pants down! I hope that the rash will disappear quickly - because getting gel worked into brillo pad hair can't be easy... Love you!! Silke

I certainly hope the rash is not itchy. That would make it a trial worthy of Job, to keep with the Biblical analogies.

I tell you Deb, chemo does the STRANGEST STUFF to hair!
(and yes, I did get a mental visual of the *no pants and cereal*....sorry! laughing!)
Still don't know if I'm going to have hair or not in a few weeks. And yes, I **LOVED** not having to shave my legs during the first round! Now I look like an ape....not in a good way either.
Big Hugs to all~~♥

My goodness - you certainly turn a horrid situation into a giggly one! You are one special lady!
God bless and hope the SOS (brillo pads) don't scratch. LOL

Well at least if you run out of dish soap you can always use Brawny Man's legs for a good scrub. Follow it up with a quick lick from Meow Meow and the dishes are good to go back in the cupboard...HA!
I'm so glad you're still giggling. It's one of the best medicines you can have in your cupboard "-).

Aawww! Sweet little baby and her blue eyes. Life doesn't get much better when they're around.

Love you!!!
