Just A Dog

 100_2384

Yes, Bear, all dogs do go to heaven.

But you already know that.  You’ve been chasing bunnies through meadows of Easter Green  all night, free of the pain that had stopped you from walking here on earth.  Yes, I did know when I took this picture of you with Your Boy  that it would be the last.  Your Nanny and Grandpa  even came to see you one last time this Christmas, poor old Grandpa hobbling around behind you, commiserating with you on how Time  had brought you both to this point in life.

Do you remember, Bear, the story of how you came into our life?  How your boy was so very young when we found you at the dog pound, and there you were, sitting in the sun, and our eyes met and my heart heard your heart say,

“Oh, look, it’s my real mommy”.

Patriotic Bear

Gentle Bear, you have been so much more than a dog; you have been a faithful servant, protector, and lover of all living things.

scan0009 Sweet, sweet Bear, you are forever a part of the story of my life.  My heart aches to see you again, and I know that I will, for our Loving God would never give us a Heaven without animals.

scan0013 Until then, my beloved friend, keep chasing bunnies through

meadows of Easter Green .

To become a Real Dog, you must prove yourself

Brave, Truthful, and Unselfish.

scan0015You have been all of that, and more.

Oh how I am going to miss your smile.

Love, your real mommy.

I love this! I love Bear. I love Ryan. I love you. I love Alice. I love your Knight. I love your family. Ryan is so handsome. He is so handsome!

But Bear. Oh Bear. Bear went to heaven for sure. God bless you Bear.

Dogs make us love even more. They demand nothing just love and care and they return it a thousandfold.

Thank you for this Deborah. This is what makes us rich. I love you.

Dog Heaven

In dog heaven, there’s plenty of time to think…
You can howl if you want to…..
Test your new wings or chew on your halo---it’s okay!
You can rest after a busy game of chase in the meadow.
We know our people will join us sometime…..so
we wait patiently and remember them.
There is always a big stick to fetch and friends to play with.
Chew toys are everywhere, even in the clouds!
Dog Heaven is a VERY GOOD time, no matter what you like to do.
So please don’t fret Mom; life’s a beach here!

Love,

Bear

Oh Deb! I came here to tell you that you write the very best prayers ever. I want to sit next to you when you pray, because I know God is listening to your words, the way I do when I read them, and maybe I can sneak one in while you have his ear. :) And then I read about your sweet Bear, and I see those pictures of him and Ryan and the tears just come streaming down my cheeks. What a sweet dog, and a sweet, sweet boy, too. I'm so sorry for your loss - xoxo Pam

Oh, what beautiful honour to your lovely dog. Yes, when a dog comes to live with you...life changes. I suddenly feel the need to write a tribute to our former dog Rocky, a beautiful wonderful big Kusky-Malamut who was poisoned when only six years old. One day a lady in the parc told me, when I walked with our new dog Louis ( who had kennel-syndrome and was very autistic ) that she saw another dog walking with us and it was Rocky, in the spirit, who had been strong and couragious. Oh, Deborah, you see where your dear dear post brings us ....
You will miss him dearly. Go through sadness knowing he had a wonderful life in your home.

Deborah, I got the Chico's catalog today. You should try modeling. You are the perfect model.

Ooh I love Black Market but you have to have a model's physique to make those dresses look good on you, so yes, that's perfect for you!

oh my, you are the second one who has suffered this loss this week...it will end one day, your separation and in the meantime, she will chase rabbits and reindeer, dig for moles to china, have chocolate and never get sick...and always she will be watching over you and yours♥

Such a sad loss sweet Debs , (( big hugs )) for you all . I cried reading this .
They complete a family , with unconditional love - i hope you find some peace and know Bear is in a good place waiting to see you once more .
I was told of a poem , called Rainbow Bridge :

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dearest Deborah, not much has me in a puddle as fast as reading about a pet passing, simply because we've been through it twice in the last three years with two of our beloved dogs. I know how heartbroken you and your family are! Their loving, gentle, happy presence is so missed when they leave this physical world. But I know your Bear is chasing bunnies in heaven and wagging his tail wildly every time you think of him! All my love, Silke

Oh Deborah, this is so sad, and I'm so sorry to hear about your doggy! Sweet Bear will be able to run and play now with my Toby our dear black lab. Dogs become such a part of the family, and I couldn't live without them.
Take care,
Martha
