Drama in the Garden

100_3086

It’s getting to be that time of year . . .

100_3090_00When there will be much weeping and wailing

in the garden,

100_3088_00  Not from the Giant Peter Pan nor the orange daylilies,

100_3125And certainly not the well adjusted, confident hibiscus.

100_3115The Margarita Portulaca are much too busy partying to notice all the fuss.

100_3109 The source of the bad behavior will be the prolific

and ever dramatic desert daylilies crying

LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!

Why all this drama, you ask?

100_3103 The Canna Lilies are making their grand entrance!

100_3104 They’re kinda stealing the show.

100_3106

They’re being a bit of a showoff.

 100_3105

Ah, carry on.

I can barely hear the wailing.

I want a photograph of your thumbs! Are they green? Allt hese flowers in your garden - amazing. The fowers in the first two images are on fire! Do you see the flames? They are on fire.

Yes! yes! Those tears of joy. I first had them when I came back to the Philippines to visit my parents for the first time after many years. The Viking and I were already married by the Justice of the peace in Texas and we went to the Phils. to get married in church. When I saw my mother again I just hugged her so tight and cried and I kissed her face over and over and over again. I love tears of joy. Mine are accompanied by shrieks and screams of delight.

Tsup! Tsup!!!

Talking about small packages...do you remember the canyon oak seedlings? I planted them in pots. I hope they grow well. I talk to them.

Oh those naughty canna's. Always showing off and steal the attention away from all the other flowers. Don't tell them that they're gonna get droopy, then they'll really start wailing...tee hee. Did you see the movie, Finding Nemo? Oh how I loved the little seagulls with their silly expressions and their constant, Mine mine mine mine. I think you canna's remind me of them ;-O.
Hee hee and much love to thee...from me!

Wahhhh! I wish I could show you my plants. My portulaca is about 1/4 of an inch high, drowning in its pot. My poor Canna's mostly didn't make it through the winter and the two that survived are barely a foot tall, brown spots all over from rain rot. Well, I'm glad someone is enjoying some fine weather and flowers.

I love cannas, but they do not love Maryland. :( Luckily, daylilies seem to like growing everywhere! There is a party going on at your house all the time, isn't there? That's it! I'm coming over. :) And I am sorry I called you Dee in my post yesterday. I blame lack of sleep and no coffee, because I know you are Deb, of Deb and Dee Enterprises. xox! Pam

Something similar goes on in our yard - all the beauties are vying for our attention. And what gets most of my attention? The ripening tomatoes - I'm so addicted!! Happy garden days!!! Much love, Silke

gorgeous shots!

And I love cannas! My mom's garden is full of them (she complains that they will take over if she's not vigilant).

I love drama so of course the desert daylilies are my fave. Okay the cannas are pretty but the lilies still get my vote.

Oh Deb....I would kill for the cannas, except for two things:
Indiana
Soil

And that says it all! LOL!!! My dad grew them here, but he babied them and got them to grow HUGE....he did not have green thumbs but green hands.
My luck has been, shall we say, LESS.
Beautiful photos---I don't know how you grow those flowers in the desert!

XXOO!!
