A New Day

100_1675

I dance through the hallway
running my hand along the wall,
remembering the rooms
that held babies,
my babies.
My baby boy.

Stop at your door,
close my eyes
and you're three
running running
always running ahead of me.

Eight thousand days,
you're still running ahead.
I drop back to take my new place
Among the memories.

It's a new life, it's a new day.
A glorious new day.

Beautiful Deb.....I think you have expressed what every mother feels when the little ones are no longer small.
Just lovely!
(and so is the photo)

But you will all have new memories added to the old ones. Darlingest of Debaloo's, you make it sound like you've lost your son, but you haven't ;-). you've gained a daughter and another beautiful one at that. Next there'll be grandbabies, but don't tell Gilli I said so...tee hee. Lovely, lovely thoughts.

Oh, sweet Deb, it's so bittersweet when your baby grows up and then starts his own family... I am so happy though that you love his new wife - that way your family is actually growing... And she is so lucky to come into your family!! Love, Silke

Oh, Deb, this makes me sad and happy. I guess that sums up having our little ones grow up and out of the nest. :) Lovely poem, lovely photo! xox Pam

you sent your melancholy out to gift others.
to help bring a measure of peace to yourself, I hope.
these transitions stretch us.
they do.

love to you in this

I'm so glad I found your blog! Loved the poem. I'm a poet who appreciates good poetry when I see it...that means, when I like it!! LOL You'll have to come by my blog and critique some of my poetry sometime. :-))

BTW, I have no babies, but always thought I'd have a house full! I'll live vicariously through your poem instead. :-))

Oh, Deborah. 8000 days do pass by quickly, don't they. Your beautiful poem and sweet haiku made me cry. You are a powerful and most loving poet. All your words are straight from the heart, and they fly straight into mine.

I am off to dance now.

Kisses to you! Have a glorious and spectacular summer!
