A Wee Bit of Ornament History

100_2231

Paul was feeling a little Nutty today.

100_2237

This little REINDEER dates back to my Childhood in New Jersey.  It was given to my brother in Boy Scouts.  There was a lollipop attached. I remember being ever SO jealous . . . and I accidentally broke off his back leg.  My cheeks still flush with embarrassment thinking of it.  I place him on my tree each year for HUMILITY.

100_2238

My brother made this Snowball Man in Boy Scouts.  He is missing an eye and half of his smile, but I have no ill-feelings towards this one.

100_2234 This ornament bears some of my early art work.  I can remember very clearly being about four-years-old in New Jersey, sitting by the Christmas Tree, coloring the fluffy white paint with my New Magic Marker, and  Mommy saying in a

VERY   LOUD   VOICE

WHAT  ARE  YOU  DOING???

And I replied in a wee voice

MAKING  IT  PRETTY!!!

I’m pretty sure that’s when my hand slipped in shock, creating that long line and the end of my artist career.

More Ornament History tomorrow?

Paul is a cutie, and that comment about placing your brother's Boy Scouts reindeer on the tree for humility is hilarious. Have a lovely day, Deb!

Oh oh oh! I love love love ornament history, of course, only if I find the person interesting! I don’t really read everybody’s history. As for you, I cannot get enough! I want to read more. I can imagine you lovely, pretty long legs Little Deborah making everything pretty!. Oh your brother is a Boy Scout! Wonderful. You know I am a Girl Scout even now, I still am, even had my own troop of girls. I love Scouting!

Paul looks very happy. He looks like he did something mischievous and is keeping it a secret. I love your Christmas posts. I love that everything you do is meaningful and thoughtful. Oh I love you dearest dearest sisterfriend! Oh I am so happy. Tsup! Tsup!

this is wee darling, deb. you've shared these wee memories through the wee eyes of the little girl you were (and still are) and you transported me, just like that, back to my own childhood, and back to that of my daughter's.

i have a not-so-wee warmth all over from this post.

Oh how I love hearing about your ornament history and by the behavior you exhibited as a child I can see why we are such delightfully dear friends ;-). But Deb, what happened to the lollipop?
Ok, now I'm off to do that thing ;-).
Happy Christmas thought are being sent your way.

Much love,
Cori
